Al Mawashi

Tomato Sauce Meatballs

Ingredients:

750g minced mutton or lamb

1 Clove of garlic, crushed

1 small onion, Grated

2 Thick slices of white bread

1 Egg

1 Teaspoon spices

1 tablespoon chopped parsley salt and pepper


Sauce:

1 ½ cups of chopped peeled tomatoes

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 small green pepper, finely chopped

Half teaspoon sugars

Salt and pepper

Half cup of water

2 Tablespoons flour

oil for frying.


Method:

Mix Mince with garlic and onion.

Soak bread in cold water, squeeze dry and crumble into mince.

Add egg, spice, parsley and seasoning. Blend thoroughly to a smooth paste.

With wet hands, shape spoonful of the mixture into balls. Gently roll in flour.

Heat oil in a frying pan and fry meatballs until browned on all sides. Remove from pan and drain.

Combine ingredients for sauce in a saucepan and simmer for 5 mins.

Add meatballs and simmer gently for 45 Minutes to 1 hour.

Serve with rice
